Advantages of Apple MacBook Air M2 15

In 2022, Apple released the 13-inch MacBook Air M2. There are no other screen sizes. However, at the end of WWDC 2023, Apple officially launched the MacBook Air M2 with a new display. The new variant is the MacBook Air M2 with a 15 inch screen.

The presence of this laptop could be an alternative for users who need a lighter type of MacBook but wit
h a larger screen.

Previously, users could only "surrender" to using the MacBook Air M2 product at 13 inches, which some people considered too small. The only way for them to use a larger screen is to choose the Pro variant with a size of 14 inches or 16 inches.

However, the price jump from the MacBook Air M2 to the Pro M2 feels high. After all, not everyone needs performance as fast as the MacBook Pro M2 and the performance of the Air M2 is suitable, as long as it is on a larger screen.

Apart from that, the 14 inch and 16 inch options on the MacBook Pro M2 also feel incomplete. The 14-inch screen on the MacBook Pro M2 is only slightly different from the 13-inch MacBook Air M2. Meanwhile, the 16 inch variant actually makes the laptop bigger, heavy and difficult to carry everywhere.

So, how powerful is the MacBook Air 15 M2?

- Apple M2 processor with fast performance, less throttling

- One of the lightest 15 inch laptops in the world

- Amazing screen quality

- Trackpad size increased

- Speaker quality improved

- Battery life is okay

Advantages of the MacBook Air 15 M2

In the digital era, of course the need for electronic devices is also increasing rapidly. One of the most worth looking at is of course the MacBook Air 15 M2 which has a ton of advantages. Anything? Check out the following.

1. Apple M2 Processor with Fast Performance, Less Throttling

Intel had indeed been Apple's processor of choice for a number of their products. However, since the emergence of the Apple Silicon "M" series, Mac products have now experienced high performance.

The MacBook Air 15 Inch M2, as the name suggests, is powered by the Apple M2 processor which was first introduced in 2022. It is the next generation of the Apple M1 which was released two years earlier.

The Apple M2 is packed with four performance cores called Avalanche and four efficiency cores called Blizzard, with a maximum processor clock of 3.49 GHz. The Apple M2 also relies on a 10-core GPU and neural network hardware called the Neural Engine, capable of reaching speeds of up to 15.8 TOPs (trillion operations per second).

2. One of the Lightest 15 Inch Laptops in the World

In terms of design, there is almost nothing different between the 15 inch and 13 inch variants. Both even come in the same color variants, namely Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray and Silver.

What is different of course is the size, where the 15 inch variant has a heavier body and larger dimensions. Even so, the MacBook Air M2 is one of the lightest 15 inch laptops in the world so it is still able to provide a pleasant experience when traveling long distances.

In comparison, the 13-inch variant weighs 1.24 kg while the 15-inch variant comes in at 1.5 kg. So, the difference in weight is not much.

3. Amazing Screen Quality

It wouldn't be an Apple product if it wasn't packed with amazing screen quality. For this 15 inch variant, it is not much different from the 13 inch except in terms of size and resolution.

This device is equipped with a Liquid Retina Display panel measuring 15.3 inches with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,864 pixels. Like the 13 inch version, this device also has a density level of 224 ppi. Apple says the MacBook Air 15 M2 is capable of reaching 500 nits of brightness.

4. Trackpad Size Increased

This may be one of the advantages that is a bit small, but it still improves the user experience. Yes, the MacBook Air 15 M2 has a trackpad size that is larger than the 13 inch variant. This seems to be a positive impact from the slightly wider body size.

As someone who prefers a trackpad over a mouse, I will certainly be more comfortable navigating on the 15 inch variant compared to the 13 inch. Because, dragging and dropping is now more comfortable, and making gestures for scrolling is definitely easier too.

5. Speaker Quality Improves

The sound produced by the MacBook Air M2 in the 13 inch variant sounds very good. That's because the device has four stereo speakers.

This sound quality improves on the 15-inch variant which is packed with six stereo speakers — two more speakers. Combines two pairs of force-canceling woofers with two tweeters for deeper bass.

The location of the speaker grille itself will not be visible to the naked eye. Because, instead of being on top, this speaker "hides" between the hinges, reflecting sound from the display towards the user's face. Thanks to the support for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos technology, the sound it produces even sounds on par with a MacBook Pro.

6. Battery life is OK

Apple rarely provides information regarding the battery capacity of their products. The company prefers to provide durability duration claims.

In this case, the MacBook Air 15 M2 is said to be able to last up to 18 hours of video playback and 15 hours of browsing. This is the same claim as the MacBook Air 13 M2, meaning this device does not experience any battery improvements compared to before.

That means the larger screen size doesn't prevent the 15-inch variant from having good battery life. In fact, the 15 inch variant has a larger screen size and resolution, so it's understandable if it consumes more power than the 13 inch.

Some of the improvements are quite nice to have, although actually not significant enough to convince anyone to upgrade from 13 inches to 15 inches. However, if you are starting from a MacBook Air product that still uses M1 or even Intel, this feels like the right opportunity to upgrade.
